Reshaping and Refining
Dr. Michael Jazayeri, a highly respected board-certified surgeon based in Santa Ana, California, offers personalized Abdominoplasty procedures. Drawing on his vast experience in body contouring, he effectively addresses loose skin, weakened abdominal muscles, and stubborn fat deposits, transforming your silhouette into a sleeker, more defined version.
A More Confident You
Abdominoplasty is indicated for patients who have loose, hanging skin of the abdomen. This is usually due to pregnancy, but it can also occur after major weight loss. Pregnancy or major weight gain will stretch the abdominal skin. This may result in stretch marks, and the elasticity of the skin may be lost, resulting in hanging skin. Pregnancy can also weaken the strong fascia (white fibers) between the abdominal muscles (the six-pack muscles), resulting in the abdominal contents pushing against the weak fascia. The medical term for this condition is rectus diastasis. This will result in a “beer belly” appearance.
Abdominoplasty, often known as a "tummy tuck," is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and firm the abdomen. Ideal candidates include those who have experienced significant weight loss or pregnancy, resulting in loose abdominal skin and weakened muscle fascia, causing a protruding appearance. Through a meticulously performed abdominoplasty, Dr. Jazayeri can help you reclaim a firmer, flatter, and more youthful-looking abdomen.
Reveal a Slimmer You
At our practice in Santa Ana Abdominoplasty is not a one-size-fits-all procedure. Depending on individual patient needs, Dr. Jazayeri offers mini, standard, and extended tummy tucks. The mini tummy tuck addresses loose skin in the lower abdomen, while the standard and extended versions treat larger areas of excess skin and weakened muscles, with the extended version also addressing the flanks. Dr. Jazayeri provides each patient with a tailored surgical plan that can include liposuction for more comprehensive contouring.
A mini tummy tuck is indicated for patients who have loose skin in the lowest, central portion of their abdomen only. These patients do not have any loose skin near or above the umbilicus (belly button) and have no rectus diastasis. The mini-abdominoplasty scar will be as long as or slightly longer than a C-section scar.
In a standard abdominoplasty, the incision is from “hip to hip.” In these patients, there is loose skin above the umbilicus and possibly below as well. There is also rectus diastasis present. The skin is separated from the abdominal wall and the umbilicus and is raised to the edge of the rib cage. The rectus diastasis is repaired, and then the excess skin is removed. A new opening is created for the umbilicus to come through. Two to three drains are placed under the skin to collect any fluid build-up. The drains are usually removed in seven to nine days, depending on their output.
An extended tummy tuck is indicated for patients who have loose skin extending into the flanks (love handles). The procedure is similar to a standard abdominoplasty, with the exception of a longer scar. Commonly, the patient will have excess fat around the flanks, and liposuction of the flank area will be performed with the abdominoplasty (either standard or extended). The recovery from a tummy tuck is similar to a C-section. The patient should refrain from any physical activity or exercise for six weeks. After six weeks, graduated exercise can be resumed as tolerated. In the case of standard or extended abdominoplasty, sit-ups or abdominal exercises are not recommended. This is to allow the rectus diastasis repair to become as strong as possible.
Embrace Transformation
Abdominoplasty is a transformative procedure that redefines the abdomen, leading to a more toned and sculpted appearance. It can resolve a pouchy belly caused by weakened muscles and eliminate excess, hanging skin. The surgery can also enhance self-esteem, promoting a positive body image and making clothes fit better. Tummy tuck surgery can be a very effective means of tightening the stomach area. Therefore, patient candidacy is important. Ideal tummy tuck surgery patients are:
In the hands of Dr. Jazayeri, abdominoplasty is a highly individualized procedure. The ideal candidate for a tummy tuck is at or within ten pounds of their ideal weight. However, it can be performed on patients who are slightly more overweight (up to 20 pounds over ideal weight) if the abdominal skin is very loose and can be easily pulled down. Dr. Jazayeri will apply his expert surgical skills to redefine your abdomen and create a more attractive silhouette.

Dr. Jazayeri is committed to ensuring a smooth recovery and is available for follow-up visits to monitor your healing process, assess your comfort, and address any questions or concerns.
Expertly Guided Surgical Journey
On your procedure day, Dr. Jazayeri meticulously prepares for the surgery by placing strategic markings on your abdomen. An anesthesiologist thoroughly reviews your medical history and administers anesthesia for comfort. Abdominoplasty lasts around two to three hours and may be combined with liposuction or other procedures. Excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen are skillfully excised in this surgery. Subsequently, the abdominal skin above the navel level is carefully lifted, resembling lifting an apron while preserving the navel intact.
Next, Dr. Jazayeri strengthens the vertical abdominal muscles using heavy sutures extending from your solar plexus to your pubic bone. This crucial step results in a firmer abdominal wall and a more refined waistline. Following this, the skin is repositioned over the abdomen, and a new opening is meticulously crafted for the navel. To enhance the contour of your body, liposuction may be incorporated into the procedure. To allow any postoperative fluid discharge, drain tubes are placed under the skin, exiting through small openings in the pubic area. These drains, generally removed a week after surgery, assist in your healing process. Dr. Jazayeri completes the procedure by closing the skin with dissolvable sutures, eliminating the need for in-office removal. Postoperatively, dressings are applied to the incisions, and a supportive abdominal binder is used to reduce swelling and provide comfort during the recovery period.
Abdominoplasty is indicated for patients wishing to remove excess skin or repair diastasis recti. Ideal candidates will be at a stable weight, generally healthy, and not planning any future pregnancies.
This will depend on the details of your individual procedure and the location of your stretch marks. It is possible that the affected skin will be excised during surgery, eliminating the appearance of this common condition.
Post-surgical drains are typically removed after seven to ten days. Recovery from a standard or extended abdominoplasty may require you to limit heavy physical activity for approximately six weeks, but you will be able to return to most of your daily routine much sooner, typically within one to two weeks after surgery. Recovery from a mini abdominoplasty will be faster.
Abdominoplasty results are considered permanent. Maintaining a stable weight will help your results last in the long run. A subsequent pregnancy could undo the results of an abdominoplasty, so it is recommended that patients do not have this procedure if they are planning a future pregnancy.
Currently, the average cost of abdominoplasty nationwide is around $6,000 (this does not include anesthesia and operating room fees). The cost of any individual procedure may vary depending on a range of factors. Schedule your consultation to learn more.
