Orange County Hand Rejuvenation

Hand rejuvenation is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with or without intravenous sedation, and the entire procedure can usually be performed within 30 minutes to an hour. Although some practitioners use dermal fillers for hand rejuvenation, Dr. Jazayeri prefers the use of fat injections, which provide longer-lasting results. However, dermal fillers are an option for patients who desire a faster recovery with less downtime. For the fat injection method, liposuction is performed first to remove fat from an area on the body where excess deposits exist (e.g., abdomen, buttocks, and thighs). After the harvested fat is purified, Dr. Jazayeri strategically injects it into the dorsum of the hands to evenly distribute the fat. This procedure plumps the skin, increases fullness, and reduces the “veiny” and “bony” appearance in the hands.

Recovery and Results

Once the procedure is complete, Dr. Jazayer may suture the small incisions from the harvested areas and apply a dressing to the hands. Although some minor swelling and discomfort may exist after treatment, these symptoms will subside over the next couple of days. There is little to no downtime associated with hand rejuvenation, and most patients are able to return to work and resume their normal activities within 48 hours of the procedure. Patients should avoid heavy manual labor and weight lifting for at least 7 to 10 days.

Hand rejuvenation immediately is a very rewarding procedure that restores a youthful appearance to the hands. Although this procedure provides long-lasting results, over time, some of the fat may be reabsorbed by the body, and additional treatments may be needed to maintain results. In addition, Dr. Jazayeri often recommends laser resurfacing of the hands to reduce or eliminate brown spots, tighten the skin, and further rejuvenate the appearance of the hands.
