What’s Included in a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a group of plastic surgeries designed to improve the areas of a woman’s body most affected by having children. This set of procedures most commonly includes one or more of the following:

• Breast Augmentation: Increases size and improves the shape of breasts
• Breast Lift: Lifts sagging breasts for a more youthful appearance
• Liposuction: Removes excess fat from areas where fatty tissue tends to linger, such as the abdomen or “love handles”
• Tummy Tuck: Eliminates excess and sagging skin for a tighter physique

How Much Does a Mommy Tuck Cost?

The cost of a mommy makeover will vary based on a patient’s needs. With Dr. Jazayeri, a typical mommy makeover ranges between $10,000-$20,000.

Several factors affect a procedure’s cost. A high-quality plastic surgeon who is board-certified does excellent work, and has a clean record will cost more due to their experience, reputation, and the costs associated with that. Procedure costs can also vary based on where the clinic is located. Surgeries in Beverly Hills or Newport Beach, for example, may be more expensive, as rent and other costs are higher.

Dr. Jazayeri warns that prospective patients should be wary of providers who advertise prices that seem too good to be true; this could be a sign of dangerous inexperience. Remember that a botched procedure may be costly and/or impossible to fix.

How Much Weight Can I Lose With a Mommy Makeover?

It’s important to know that the procedures included in a mommy makeover are not considered weight-loss surgeries. They’re intended for cosmetic enhancement of the breast and stomach area. Depending on your body and the types of procedures you choose, your weight may or may not change.

On average, most tummy tuck patients only lose an average of one to four pounds from the excess fat and skin removed. With a liposuction procedure, even less weight can be expected to be lost as fat is less dense than muscle and other tissue and therefore occupies more space.

If patients choose to also undergo breast augmentation, they could actually gain a small amount of weight as each implant has a certain weight based on volume. For example, a 450cc implant will add approximately one pound to a patient’s weight.
