LIPOSUCTION OF UPPER ARMS
Excess fat of arms can be an embarrassing “asset” for many patients. In most cases, the excess fat is of genetic origin, as I have seen patients with ideal body weight who have “chubby” arms.
If the skin tone is normal, liposuction of the fat followed by a pressure garment will allow the arm skin to retract, giving a nice result.
If, however, the quality of skin is poor, a brachiplasty (removal of loose skin) is required. Liposuction of loose skin is really of no benefit since the issue is excess skin and not fat.
The good news is that both procedures can be performed under local anesthesia, resulting in faster recovery and less cost to the patient.
Please find below, two month post-op photos of a patient who had liposuction of arms. Given the right patient, the result can be dramatic.
